[A warm wave of relief washed over Edgar when he heard Drake's voice, rinsing the cold uneasiness away. Of course he noticed the difference in his voice. It's weak, raspy and exhausted. While it wasn't exactly something that one liked to hear Edgar knew it to be expected. He's pretty sure that this time wasn't exactly vacation for Drake either.
He rushes towards the voice but halts when his eyes land on Drake because oh.. The sight was shocking and he really wasn't prepared for it. Drake looked like he had jumped out of myths.
A frown appears on his forehead as he approaches the couch and kneels down in front of him.]
Are you alright? [Because his current state looked just.. painful.]
[ Oh geez. He hadn't meant to worry anybody, least of all Edgar. Drake makes an effort to sit up properly, and put on something resembling a smile. He's feeling rough but it'll get better. ]
I will be, don't worry. This isn't the first time. Sorry about the... [ He gestures at himself, knowing the appearance is startling. ] This is just what I look like when Lup's not around.
Lup? [He repeats as he looks up to him, still staying on the floor. He knew that Drake was in good terms with the elf twins, or at least that much he managed to gather from the network, but he hadn't thought they'd help with his appearance. Though, now that he thinks of it, both Lup and Taako had offered him a makeover at least twice by now.] I see.
How are you feeling? Did anyone find out about you being zombie?
[Edgar waits a brief moment before he gets up and joins Drake on the couch.]
Should I know these people? [He asks slowly, slightly arching his brow. He might not say it but there is a promise of a protection and backup behind his voice. If those people ever became problem he'd like to know and help.]
I had to attack few people. Don't worry, everyone is safe.
How exactly? [The frown deepens on Edgar's face. Unless they meant praying Hope he doesn't see how could anyone help Drake's case. There really isn't a safe way to help donating brains.
He lets out a sigh and rolls his shoulders.]
I stole their blood while they slept. Only one woke up but I managed to divert her suspicions.
Well, he was uncomfortably comfortable with the idea of being eaten, but when I took that off the table I think he would've been willing to kill me if things hadn't gone back to normal. He wasn't happy but he rolled with it.
[ Drake tilts his head worriedly at that news, but he gets it. You do what you have to. ]
So I don't have to worry? Who were you with, anyway?
Sounds almost like a classic masochist, then. [He says with a light voice, one that sounds almost like a laughter. But now his curiosity is pinged. People like that could be useful -- if one knew when to quit the game in time, that is.]
We're safe. [He repeats with a nod.] I believe them to be Atem, Carolina and Tucker. Carolina is the one who woke up.
Maybe? I've run into a couple of weirdly self sacrificing people here that say I can eat them, like that'd solve the problem. It wouldn't, it'd just make me a murderer.
[ He shakes his head a little. ]
...which Tucker? I don't know Atem, but... Carolina's not someone you want as an enemy. She's a good person, but she doesn't fuck around. Just be careful.
[Edgar is little taken aback by that. He can still somewhat understand the willingness to donate blood -- after all one could easily survive from blood loss. Brains, however? They were whole new story]
I see. [What Drake says next is more unsettling. He purses his lips together into a thin line, knitting his brows into a frown. To think that there is someone like him who can have luxury to feel guilty] It could fix it. For a while at least. Hope is able to bring them back alive so it's not like you did anything bad.
No. Killing to eat is something bad, to me. Willing or not, dying is still terrifying. I know, because it's happened to me... and I don't think I've ever explained how it works, with real people. I get their personalities, their memories. I feel what they felt.
[ He shakes his head. ]
I lose myself either way -- I'd rather wait it out, and know I didn't hurt my friends.
It doesn't have to be. There still peaceful ways to die. [And people have and will kill for lesser reasons than that, he wants to argue but decides to drop it. It most likely wouldn't be fruitful conversation. Instead he settles for something else.]
How did you die? Was it when you became.. well, what you are.

[ He pats the seat next to him so Edgar can join him on the couch. The fussing might not ease up yet, but at least he can pretend. ]
Kinda weak. Two more people know, I think they'll keep it quiet. What about you?

[ Which might extend to Edgar, if they approached it right. But that's not something Drake's thinking about right this moment. ]
"Attack" doesn't sound safe, for then or you. You're gonna need to elaborate for me.
