Well he's not violent, for starters.

he's still intense, but not in a frightening way.
He's thoughtful and creative and smart, and was protecting me from the first day we knew each other.

All I did differently was treat him like a person.

No. You got off on the wrong foot, I don't know if it's fair to ask that now that he's making it so difficult.
