[ And he is... he may have been bored af on his own today, having nothing planned for after patrol and training. There's a small bag hanging from his shoulder -- he's brought her lunch and a hairbrush. Just in case. ]
[ she'll greet him with a kiss, shameless because they're alone for a moment. and then she'll peer around his arm at the bag, curiosity obviously piqued. ]
[ It's just what he made for lunch, a spicy brain pasta salad with canned veggies. He's got a fork, too, no worries. The container and utensil get passed over with a smile. His fingers brush hers. ]
Any lunch brought to you by a delivery guy as cute as you are is fancy. [ liv grins at him, taking a seat and folding her legs in the seat with her as she begins to dig in. it's good! ]
And yeah. A little boring, but... it's hard to be mad that people aren't hurt.
[ liv can't help it: the little grin she gives him is fond and completely amused, even as she leans her head just slightly into the touch as he tucks her hair back. ]
You don't have to babysit me, Drake, it's okay, I promise. I'll keep myself entertained. And - yeah, sure. Do you know an artist?
[ she spears a piece of spicy pasta, offering it out to him. ]
Maybe I need the babysitting. Or at least a play date. This metaphor is getting kinda weird, but you know what I mean. I've got nothing to do today.
[ He just had lunch himself but accepts the bite anyway, swallowing before he answers. ]
Yeah. You've seen Ephemera's stuff already. He's got a big landscape in the kitchen now... I figured I'd ask what you liked artwise before making any decisions about what to ask for.
[ liv's shoulders shake a little with laughter when the metaphor seems to run away with him. ]
Someone else should be in soon... I'll see if I can take off early, okay?
[ the last part gives her pause, though, and she thinks while she chews. ]
And you know... Peyton was always the one who handled interior decoration. Swear I'm not doing the 'dodgy girlfriend' thing, but really, I'll be happy with anything. Just - art will be nice.
I'd like that. I feel like I don't get enough time with you, somehow.
[ Their schedules don't overlap very well. Drake smiles at her response, too, nodding. Art will be nice. And an excuse to hang out and watch Ephemera paint. He's only really gotten to see the art after it's painted, not the process. ]
I'm a little homesick... I was thinking a park scene with the skyline behind it?
Really weird. Especially when you consider how different some of our worlds are... that they all exist somewhere. When I asked about magic, though, a lot of people described things that sound just like our legends. So maybe people have traveled between them before.
Good point. But I really doubt there's a huge population of spellcasting, dragon fighting, half elf wizards out there that we haven't discovered. Seems harder to hide.
And I have to wonder if some of these 'worlds' couldn't be a future version of our own.
[ Every time she says something like that, Drake falters. His smile fades a little now, even, caught off guard, and his hand slides back to rest on her leg instead. ]
Sorry. I don't really want to think about home. Things weren't looking good.
[ liv hesitates, then drops it. she's sort of got the feeling that maybe something isn't right, but she doesn't want to push it. she has the feeling deep down that maybe she won't like what she's told. ]
Yeah, sure. So - the Seattle skyline. I'd love that.
[ Drake is incredibly relieved when she drops it so easily... he's not ready to tell her. But talking about making their home more theirs, he can do. ]
He's gonna do some sketches based off my descriptions, you should chime in.
...hey babe? Are you working so much just to distract yourself from missing your friends, or something else... because I can be a distraction.
[ liv pauses when he asks her that point blank, like she's a little surprised that he's actually picked up on that. she catches the side of his face, hesitating again. ]
No, it's not that. It's - I'm used to doing more, you know? I've always had a -- purpose.
[ the time she'd spent working at the morgue before she'd started helping clive had been some of the most miserable months of her life. ]
You've got the guard, so I figured... I don't know.

I should have brought you a book or something. Or-- hey. I forgot to ask, how do you feel about getting some art done at our place?

And you think so? I wanna say that sounds far fetched, but...

I'd think I were crazy and this was some kind of hallucination if you weren't here with me. You feel pretty real.
