[ Ephemera tips his head back, dipping his brush into water. He’s working on a canvas today instead of the wall. A change, but maybe a welcome one. And he’s got an eyepatch in instead of the prosthetic. It’s been itching again.
[ Drake is curious about the painting, as always, but he doesn't step into Ephemera's space without invitation. Just leans in the doorway, smiling back. ]
What're you feeling for dinner tonight? And would you be interested in a threesome with Sam?
[ He gives the phone a little wiggle to show that's who he's been talking to. ]
[ His newest painting is an experiment more than anything else, a play of brighter colors over a dark background. Like an oil spill, or the way a planet shines in sunlight after a glassing. He's been playing around with texture, making the brush strokes heavy enough to touch in the aftermath. He's not certain it works, not entirely, but it feels good to try new things.
[ Drake pushes off the doorframe and steps forward, coming to a stop beside Ephemera. He wanted to look at the canvas, yes, but also offer some physical comfort and reassurance -- he loops an arm around the other man's waist, giving a gentle tug. Lean on him. ]
That's okay. Are you intrigued by it, or freaked out?
[ He turns his head from where he was admiring the painting and bumps their foreheads together, focus more on Ephemera now. ]
You can try it out, or just watch and see how you feel, or we close all the doors and you just paint like nothing's happening. What you want for dinner's the bigger commitment here, promise.
[ Well damn. Apparently this is happening now. Ephemera huffs a little, running a hand through his hair and only realizing a moment later he's got paint on it.
Oh, well. He bumps his arm against Drake's, then moves to follow him. ]
( listen, sometimes--one just has to invite themselves over to someone else's place and find a good excuse to do so. and this seemed reasonable. he told drake ten minutes, and it's a little closer to 15 before he's rapping his knuckles against the door frame and leaning back on his heels, a hand shoved down into his pocket while he waits until drake opens the door. )
Yo. ( light and easy, as he offers them both a grin and lets himself into the apartment. gestures back towards ephemera once he's passed him to get inside. )
[ Drake still doesn't get the whole 'needing an excuse' thing... he's told Sam over and over again he can come by whenever, and yet. It's fine, though. Whatever makes him comfortable.
He closes the door behind Sam and turns back to the other men, glancing to Ephemera's hair at the comment. ]
It's just paint. [ And he sets an encouraging hand on Ephemera's lower back -- any excuse to touch him, honestly. ] You want a drink, Sam?
[ Obviously. And now Sam's here and this is happening. Apparently. Ephemera shifts a little, then reminds himself to settle. He knows Drake and Sam. Trusts them. Has slept with both of them. This is just more of that, right?
He watches them both curiously, wondering how this is all going to play out. ]
( with a step in towards ephemera, raising a hand up towards his hair to pinch the few strands between his index finger and thumb, pulling off as much paint as he can. careful to coordinate the movement, because he doesn't want to overstress him any.
grins at him, before he's looking over to drake for a moment. )
Nah. I'm good. ( then, back to ephemera. ) Drake ask you?
[ Drake smiles at the gesture, but since the question is addressed to Ephemera he just stands by for solidarity and lets the other man answer. Still in contact with the hand on his back, thumb rubbing gently at the rise of muscle beside his spine. ]
[ Ephemera stills, uncertain, but Sam just works the paint out of his hair. It doesn't even pinch. And he's close, but he telegraphs and doesn't come up in Ephemera's blindspot.
It's fine. He knows them. Trusts them.
Some of the tension bleeds out. His shoulders relax. And he smiles a little. ]
( let ephemera lead, because he's the one who might find himself getting a little too overwhelmed. he can pull the brakes when he feels like he needs a breather.
eyes move back up to drake, a stupid smarmy grin playing at the corners of his lips. when he talks, he's still talking to ephemera, even if the question involves drake specifically, )
[ Grin aside, Sam is winning many many points for how he's handling things right now. Seems like either he's got experience with touch shy people or he's just really perceptive -- could be both. Drake nods almost imperceptibly in approval and waits for Ephemera's answer. He's fine no matter who's leading and as usual Ephemera being comfortable with things is his priority. Maybe it'll help that there are three of them? He and Sam can focus on each other when Ephemera needs a break and it might be easier to jump back in. ]
[ Indecision freezes him for a moment. He's never done anything like this before. Not with two people. But he knows them, both of them. The trust has been there for a while now. The city fucks people over on the regular, but not these men.
No. He knows them. And that makes it simpler, if not entirely easy.
Ephemera breathes out, shifting so he can bump his head against Drake's. ]
You lead.
[ He meets Sam's eyes, curious now. Wondering how it'll go. ]

sure thing, just a minute
[ And he's going and knocking on Ephemera's doorframe, still holding his phone and grinning slightly in amusement. ]
Hey. I've got two questions for you.
no subject
He smiles. Just a little. ]
Sure. Hit me.

What're you feeling for dinner tonight? And would you be interested in a threesome with Sam?
[ He gives the phone a little wiggle to show that's who he's been talking to. ]
He's coming by for help with quota.
no subject
He lowers the brush, blinking several times. ]
...huh.
[ Okay. That's sure a thing that's been asked. ]
Never done that before. Maybe?
[ Smooth. So smooth. ]
no subject
[ Drake's smile turns lopsided. ]
Maybe he still thinks I'm suspicious and you being there would make him more comfortable.
[ He's never had sex with Sam in private, which is kind of weird to think about, but there it is. Drake gestures into the room, at the canvas. ]
Can I come in?
no subject
Yeah. Come in.
[ He smiles a little, or tries to. ]
I've never. Done anything like that. With anyone.
no subject
That's okay. Are you intrigued by it, or freaked out?
no subject
You're fine, he tells himself. So chill. ]
Both? Sorry.
[ That's not a helpful answer, is it? ]

I can try. I'd like that, I think.
And noodles. For dinner.
no subject
I like the sound of both those choices. You want to warm up a--
[ But then there's a knocking. Sam's knock, Drake recognizes it by now. He laughs softly, stealing a kiss from Ephemera before pulling away. ]
Come on.
no subject
Oh, well. He bumps his arm against Drake's, then moves to follow him. ]
Hey, Sam.

Yo. ( light and easy, as he offers them both a grin and lets himself into the apartment. gestures back towards ephemera once he's passed him to get inside. )
You've got shit in your hair.
